Its been a while since I've wrote in this section. Things have just been a little crazy. My first trip to the NPC Nationals was a wonderful experience. I saw my hotel room for probably about a combined 2 hours. Kent did awesome in a tough Welterweight class. There was 28 guys total. After the first round of quarter turns they decided to have a Elimination round where they would then chose the top 15. Kent then went on to place in that group. His 45 second individual routine was key and performed well. He was then in the second call out and finally placed at 6th. Not bad for a first time trip there. He is coming back for another competitive season just not sure where. As for me, I'm am just getting through the flew this past week so my training has be rough to keep up with crazy symptoms. The holiday season is also rapidly approaching and it definitively takes it's toll on you. There is so much running around and going here, going there type stuff.
I have to get back on a steady eating routine and what not. Not eating enough has been a huge set back. Once I get through the holidays and get my personal life situated I'll be back in the game. Personally I have a lot cluttering my mind. Some things here and there have made me a little upset and emotional and then there is another thing that has actually made me pretty happy so I take the good with the bad. I eagerly anticipate that 2009 will be a better season for me. I'm going to get my finances together, continue to fullful my contract with ABB and Optimum Nutrition, and bring a better and bigger look then I have. I'm going to try a different diet with myself and my clients. And I also hope to be working with George Farah and soon as money becomes available. So hopefully as soon as everything slows down and the holidays pass I will be back to my old self but looking and feeling better. As things get closer I will post some pictures of myself when my contest prep starts. I want to thank ABB and Optimum Nutrition for their outstanding sponsorship. I want to thank all those who have supported me and keep me going. Hope everyone is well!
Kent Bierly at 2008 NPC Nationals
November 15th, 2008, Saturday-A little Q & A
When I left off last I spoke and rambled about a few things that didn't go so well for my buddy Kent. However, he did win the Pro Class at the USBF Baltimore Pro/Am against a tough Rico Browning and Mike "Halzman" Halsey. I also spoke about how my brothers dedication resulted in dramatic weight loss. Well as we are one week out from the NPC Nationals that Kent is competing in, he is a low 172lbs looking to make 165 come Friday morning. As always I am making the trip with him to Atlanta, GA. in every athlete's dream...that IFBB pro card. While Kent's goal is nothing short of realistic he is just looking to place in the top 5. At 165 natural pounds Kent winning an IFBB pro card would be insane, but top 5 is do-able.
I also want to encourage people to start asking me questions regarding anything bodybuilding or even non-bodybuilding related to se up a whole Q & A portion to this site. That was my whole intention when I first started "Glens Corner". As many of you talk and inquire about certain things through RIPPED ACADEMY, I want that to happen here as well. So be sure to go to the Contact Glen page and feel free to ask me anything!
Q:Glen, whats the benefit of 2:1:1 Recovery? Why do you believe in this product so much?-Zach, NJ A: Well Zach, to answer your question in detail I believe not only in Optimum Nutrition's whole line of products but I believe in this recovery matrix so much for numerous reasons. First off, we all know that post work out your body needs protein and carbohydrates after a high intensity work out. Your creating tears within your muscle fibers and protein is what is going to fill those voids. However, your body can only handle so much protein at once. Whatever protein your body digests will be used for repair and the rest left over is transformed into fat. Seeing as how we don't know exactly how much protein our body actually utilizes, that is why I feel the 35 grams of blended protein is plenty for an average person after high intensity work outs. Not to mention the 2 to 1 ratio comes from the ratio of slow, moderate, and fast acting absorbed protein. Now going back to carbohydrates you need an ample mount of carbs after a work out to replenish glycogen storage and fill your muscles. Now I want to mention the 2 to 1 ratio again because I firmly in this product mainly because of the ratio of waxy-maize and sucrose/fructose sugar carbs. Waxy-maize is one of the break out products within the last year or two to be so widely stocked and bought for whatever reason. With waxy-maize in your arsenal the sky is the limit. It was designed mainly to push nutrients and amino acids into the muscle faster and more efficiently. Not to mention the 2 to 1 ratio of BCAA in this concoction...but you probably saw that coming.
